About MARC™
BlueLight analytics inc. (BlueLight™) develops and distributes MARC™, a system that simply and accurately measures the useful energy a simulated resin restoration actually receives from a dental curing light. MARC™ (Managing Accurate Resin Curing) uses an energy sensor in a resin tooth that is connected to a laboratory grade NIST referenced spectroradiometer (OceanOptics.com). The tooth is mounted within a dental mannequin head and controlled through a simple user interface on a laptop computer.
The resulting information provides dental researchers, manufacturers, educators and clinicians with scientifically accurate and clinically relevant data to better manage the variables that determine the effective use of curing lights in clinical practice.
Below you will find a video of the 10 min presentation given by Dr. Richard Price at the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) Meeting in Bacelona in July 2010. In the presentation Dr. Price describes MARC™, its use in a specific study, and how MARC™ can help dentists to ensure their restorations are adequately cured.

MARC™ was developed by Dr. Richard Price and his Research Assistant, Christopher Felix, in the School of Biomedical Engineering and the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. MARC™ is owned by Dalhousie University and Dalhousie has applied for a patent covering the technology with the US Patent Office. BlueLight has obtained an exclusive world-wide license to the technology from Dalhousie University.
